White Elephant Bush Camp is available only as a private camp for exclusive hire.

The Bush Camp is located in the beautiful Pongola Game Reserve, overlooking the western escarpment of the Lebombo Mountains, Lake Jozini and the endless savannah woodland of Northern Zululand.

Tranquil views of the Lebombo Mountains across the waters of Lake Jozini, magical evening skies, a variety of game & fishing activities and total privacy will ensure that your stay at Bush Camp is a truly special, exclusive experience.

Pongola Game Reserve is a sanctuary to a large variety of wildlife, including elephant, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, impala, hyaena, buffalo, rhino and leopard. Birdlife is prolific due to the diversity of habitats, with in excess of 350 species recorded.

Accommodation
The Bush Camp offers affordable accommodation in the Pongola Game Reserve without comprimising comfort or luxury.

Chalet 1: Honeymoon unit, en-suite shower with outdoor private ball n claw bath.
Chalet 2, 3, 4: Twin beds, en-suite shower.
Chalet 5, 6: Twin beds, en-suite shower and bath, an extra bed for a child or a camping cost can be placed in these rooms.
Chalet 7: Family unit, en-suite shower, twin beds in main room, 2 X single beds in children s adjoining room and camping cot on reques

Bush Camp, with its seven spacious, en-suite, thatched chalets (including a family unit that sleeps 4), enormous palapa (thatched living & dining area), open-plan kitchen and poolside bar, provides a beautiful laid-back bush setting; perfect for private gatherings or getaways for family and friends.

With a personal field guide and camp attendant on hand, and the entire camp for your sole use, you get to arrange your bush itinery to cater for your exclusive needs.

A cook (advance notification essential), guide & vehicle for game drives, guide & boat for boat cruises and tiger-fishing, guided walks and canoes can be hired.

Rates

Situated in the beautiful Pongola Game Reserve, this unique lodge can now be exclusively hired for a totally private bush experience. Thatched en-suite chalets are generously spacious with mosquito nets, quality linen and overhead fans. Open plan kitchen, dining room, bar and swimming pool with spectacular views ensure a “close to nature” relaxed ambience. Venture into the wilderness with a field guide on bush walks, game drives, boat cruises or cast the water for tigerfish.

Bush Camp can accommodate up to 16 guests within the following:

Chalet 1 en-suite bedroom “Honeymoon suite” (A ball’n claw bath has been placed under an old Maroela tree some distance into the bush from the Honeymoon suite. Hot and cold water is on tap and the bath has been screened by a woven-stick “wall” (in traditional Zulu style) to ensure total privacy.)
Chalet 2-4 twin beds, en-suite shower.
Chalet 5-6 twin beds, en-suite shower and bath.
Chalet 7 family unit, en-suite shower. Twin beds in main room, 2 x single beds in children’s adjoining room.

Rate excludes:
Meals, beverages, telephone & fax, laundry service, personal purchases, all activities, additional activities (marked * below), transfers to and from the camp, and R 20 (R 50 after hours: 18h00-6h00) gate entrance fee (per vehicle) payable at the gate.

Directions

From Durban - Follow the N2 north towards Hluhluwe and then onto Mkuze. Continue along the N2 passed the turn-off to Mkuze as if heading towards Pongola. Approximately 24 km from the Mkuze turn-off you will see a sign on your left had side that says PONGOLA GAME RESERVE. Turn in here. The Lodge s are signposted from here. From Johannesburg - Take the N12 to middelburg, branching off onto the N11 to Hendrina and then onto Ermelo. From Ermelo you will follow the N2 towards Piet Retief then onto Pongola. Continue along the N2 through Pongola. Approximately 38-39 km from Pongola you will see a sign on your left hand side that says WHITE ELEPHANT LODGE, a little futher on you will see a brown sign on you left hand side again that says PONGOLA GAME RESERVE. Please turn in here. Please note that there is a gate enterence fee of R20.00 per vehicle. Gate hours: 06h00 - 18h00
