To Strand Holiday Resort

Description

This exceptional resort is situated on the beach approximately 26km south of Margate and 10km north of the Wild Coast Sun. The resort, rich in bird life and smaller antelope, is surrounded with peace and tranquility.

The clean, shark-netted beach has long stretches of white sand with rocks on the edges that caters for swimmers, sun seekers, surfers and fishermen. Lifeguards are on duty during season times or on special requests for groups such as schools.

The T.O. Strand places a high premium on safety and security. 24 Hour security is on offer, which includes security gates and guards as well as fences around the resort. Gates also control entrance to and from the beach with special codes for residents only.

Accommodation consists of chalets and camping sites. 92 self catering chalets are available. They are all fully equipped with bedding, cutlery, crockery and TV. We have 20 x 1 bedroom units (with DSTV), 42 x 2 bedroom units (with DSTV) and 28 Holiday Flats (2 bedrooms with SABC-TV, no sea view). Chalets sleep 5 maximum. Each chalets has its own individual braai facility.

The caravan park consists of 134 electrified caravan- and/or tent sites with the luxury of two of the most modern and advanced ablution blocks in South Africa. This part of the resort has also been voted as one of the TOP 20 caravan parks in South Africa by readers of Caravan & Outdoor Life.

The resort also has two dormitories that can sleep 20 per dormitory with kitchen and undercover lapa for smaller groups. Other groups such as golfers, pensioners, schools, students and/or church groups are regularly catered for, with or without meals.

Since 2002 the T.O. Strand runs an environmental educational / leadership course for primary and high schools. This consists of literia courses, lectures, practical experiences, accommodation and meals at a very reasonable tariff. Groups however must consist of not less than 60 and mot more than 140 pupils at a time.

The T.O. Strand also has a kiosk where all the basic supplies can be bought as well as a take-away restaurant. Other activities include 2 swimming pools, putt-putt course, tennis court, volleyball, table tennis.

Interesting places to visit near the resort are the crocodile farm, coffee farm, space centre, Oribi Gorge, various nature trails as well as sundowner trips on the river at the Wild Coast.
