Need to Know

The Mpumulanga Lowveld enjoys hot summers and mild winters, being pleasant to visit all year round.

In summers the birds are spectacular, as all are in breeding plumage, and exciting migrants abound. In winter the residents such as shrikes and owls are still to be seen, and the walks are cooler. This is the perfect season for game viewing in the Kruger National Park.

Whatever the season, please bring binoculars, personal toiletries, a hat, sunscreen. Light clothing for the warm to hot days and a light jersey for the cooler evenings. Winter evenings can be quite chilly, so warm clothes are a good idea. A windbreaker is advised as the area has summer rainfall.

A laundry service is available. Recent magazines are provided in the chalets.

Photographic opportunities abound, so bring your camera, lenses, film and batteries. These can also be purchased in Hazyview.

We have credit card facilities, but it is a good idea to carry a little cash.

Tanamera is considered a malaria-free area, but areas of the Kruger National Park are not. It is advisable to contact your doctor as to whether you need medication or not. Insect repellent is provided in all chalets.

Accommodation

Main Lodge

The main lodge area is tastefully decorated, and comprises the reception, dining area, lounge and ladies bar. The sliding doors open onto our main deck, stepping down to a rim flow pool with an awe inspiring view of the cascading Sabie River and valley.

Dinner is served in the dining area. However, when the weather is kind, the tables are set outside on the main deck, so that you may enjoy your meal under the stars to the sounds of the resident bush babies and Wood owls. During winter, we stoke up the fire and serve wonderful meals indoors.

Chalet 1 - 4

These four magnificent chalets are fully serviced, each boasts a king-size bed draped with a mosquito net, and has a stone bath, waterfall shower and fireplace. The sliding doors lead onto a private deck with a plunge pool, from which you can take in the awe-inspiring view. Each chalet is private and surrounded by unspoilt indigenous bush - perfect for romantic getaways.

Meals are served in the main lodge area, or if you wish - privately in your chalet, or weather permitting, on your deck. Rates include dinner, bed and breakfast. Children 16+

Chalet 5 - Honeymoon Chalet

Our fifth chalet is ideal for honeymooners, or for those "special occasions". The bathroom has a large stone bath, double vanity and double shower with a waterfall feature. In the Winter months, luxuriate in your king-size bed whilst watching the flames from the ceramic fireplace which separates the bedroom from the dining and lounge area. In the warmer months cool off in the plunge pool and refresh yourself in the outside shower. Enjoy a romantic sundowner on the private deck, which has a magnificent view of the Sabie River valley.

Meals are served in the main lodge area, or if you wish - privately in your chalet, or weather permitting, on your deck. Rates include dinner, bed and breakfast. Children 16+

Chalet 6 - New Honeymoon Chalet

This is the newest and most secluded of all our chalets making it ideal for honeymooners and those special occasions. The fireplace separates the bedroom, with its 4-poster king-size bed, from the lounge and dining area. The chandelier above the stone bath can be dimmed for those romantic evenings; the bathroom contains a double vanity and double shower with waterfall feature. The sliding doors lead onto a private deck with a plunge pool and outside shower. Enjoy a romantic sun downer in the comfort of the outside lounge, with a magnificent view of the Sabie River, as the sun sets behind the distant mountains.

Meals are served in the main lodge area, or if you wish - privately in your chalet, or weather permitting on your deck. Rates include dinner, bed and breakfast. Children 16+

Chalet 7

Our most recent addition, is beautifully decorated and is similar to the honeymoon chalet in size and amenities, with a fireplace separating the lounge and dining area from the bedroom, the king-size bed is draped with a mosquito net. For a more romantic setting there is a chandelier above the stone bath; the bathroom contains a double vanity and double shower with waterfall feature.
