Orion Mont-Aux-Sources is named after Mont-Aux-Sources, the highest peak in the world-famous Amphitheatre in the northern Drakensberg. Measuring 3282 metres high, it was discovered in 1836 by French missionaries and christened Mont-Aux-Sources, or "mountain of springs". The mighty Tugela has its source here and plummets 2000 metres over the Mont-Aux-Sources plateau making it the second highest waterfall in the world.

The hotel also has 6 sleeper self-catering chalets. Hotel guests can experience delicious dining in the Gigaba Restaurant, or sip a relaxing sundowner in the Bingelelo Bar.

Each self catering chalet can sleep a maximum of 6 guests, 4 adults and 2 children under the age of 12 years. Each unit is made up of 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom both with En Suite bathrooms. The lounge area is equipt with 2 sleeper couches for the children.

DIRECTIONS to ORION MONT-AUX-SOURCES Contact tel. 036 438 8000. From Johannesburg Travel to Harrismith. Take the N5 towards Bethlehem for 5 km (exit 29). Turn left and travel towards 'Phuthaditjhaba/QwaQwa' for 8 km. Turn left onto the R74 towards Oliviershoek Pass and Bergville. Travel for 35 km past Sterkfontein Dam, Catfish & Cookhouse (adjust your speed now) and Little Switzerland. As the pass levels out, turn RIGHT following the sign for 'Northern Drakensberg' resorts and Alpine Heath. ****** Travel towards The Natal National Park for +- 8 km only. Turn right (after Tower Of Pizza) at signs to Orion Mont-Aux-Sources Hotel, Hlalanathi, Cavern After crossing the bridge, turn left at sign Orion Mont-Aux-Sources. Pass Hlalanathi on your left and continue for +- 4km. The hotel will be in front of you. You have arrived! From Durban Take the N3 Durban - Johannesburg. Beyond Estcourt, 6 km after Shell Ultra City leave the N3 taking EXIT 194, turn left on road R74 towards Winterton and Northern Drakensberg. Travel to Winterton (21 km) and then to Bergville. Then, 28 km beyond Bergville towards Harrismith, turn LEFT following the sign for Northern Drakensberg and Alpine Heath, ( NOT Drakensville). See ****** above.
